fearful symmetry

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

It seems that the search for knowledge is one that we have given up on.  But why?  Did we suddenly discover that we didn't know where to take the search? Were we afraid that if we found what we were looking for that we wouldn't recognize it? Even if we did know where to look and how to recognize it, in a world where so much appears to have gone astray, it may be impossible to be certain that something true can be discovered.
It does seem, however, that on any journey in which we seek something valuable to us, we are tested, as if we must prove ourselves worthy of that which we are seeking.  Each time that we are put on trial, regardless of the outcome, we seem to gain at the very least something of the introspective kind. It enables us to turn the minds eye in on itself and have further access to our own nature; what moves us, breaks us, fortifies us, sustains us.
This is why we must rekindle the search, irrespective of what for; because what was once a means to something outside of ourselves, has been shown to yield something new within ourselves.
Im excited to see where this takes us. It is through philosophy and literature, and music and art and theology that we discover ourselves in all our wretchedness and beauty, and that is where we discover who created the Tyger and the Lamb.
